녹용은 기관지나 폐포 벽으로 가는 임파구와 백혈구, 영양, 호르몬 등을 증가시켜 기관지 평활근의 탄력 재생 및 증강, 폐포 재생에 기여한다.

alveoli (폐포) 성인의 폐에는 약 3억개의 폐포가 존재하며 이들 폐포는 가스교환이 일어날
수 있는 70-80 평방미터의 총표면적을 만들어 준다. 가스교환 중 산소는 폐포벽을 통해 확
산되어 근처의 모세혈관에 있는 혈액으로 들어가고 이산화탄소는 폐포벽을 통해 혈액으로부
터 확산되어 폐포로 들어간다.
alveolus (치조, 폐포)
emphysema (기종, 폐기종) 체내의 공간에 농이 축적되는 것. 세부적으로 지칭할 용어가 없
다면 폐에 농이 고이는 것을 의미한다. 말단 세기관지 이하의 폐포들이 비정상적으로 늘어
나고 alveolar septum의 파괴, 폐의 탄력성이 감소, 폐용적이 증가, 확산능이 감소하며 폐포
와 함께 모세혈관이 손상을 받으므로 가스교환이 방해를 받고 호흡곤란을 일으킨다.
hypoventilation (저환기증) 폐포로 들어오는 공기의 양이 감소되어 있는 상태.
pulmonary alveolar macrophage : 폐포내에 있는 대식세포.
