두 회사는 지난해부터 이어지는 항공업계의 어려움을 함께 인식하면서 인수합병(M&A)을 추진하는 것이 항공산업의 위기 극복과 공동의 발전을 위한 올바른 방향이라는 점에 공감했다고 전했다.
Recognizing the difficulties of the aviation industry that has continued since last year, the two companies said they agreed that pushing for mergers and acquisitions is the right direction for overcoming the crisis in the aviation industry and joint development.
애경그룹은 저가항공사(LCC) 제주항공을 계열사로 두고 있는 등 항공산업에 이미 발을 담갔다는 점이 장점이다.
The advantage of Aekyung Group is that it has already stepped into the aviation industry, including Jeju Air, a low-cost carrier (LLC).
이어 "전세계적으로 항공업계가 실적 부진을 겪고 있는 가운데 제주항공 경영을 통해 축적한 운영 효율에 대한 노하우나 노선 경쟁력을 바탕으로 이번 인수를 통해 국내 항공산업에 대한 근본적인 체질개선이 가능할 것"이라고 강조했다.
"Based on know-how on operational efficiency accumulated through managing Jeju Air or competitiveness of routes amid sluggish performance of the airline industry around the world, the acquisition will enable fundamental constitutional improvement in the domestic aviation industry," he stressed.
이번 IATA 서울총회 의장을 맡아 회의를 이끌었던 그는 "세계 항공업계 주요 인사들이 방문, 한국 항공산업의 위상을 제고하는 데 큰 역할을 했다고 생각한다"고 IATA 의의를 평가했다.
The chairman of this year's IATA Seoul General Assembly said, "Key figures in the global aviation industry visited, which I think played a big role in enhancing the status of the Korean aviation industry," on the significance of the association.
정몽규 HDC그룹 회장이 12일 "아시아나항공을 인수 후 최고의 경쟁력을 갖출 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않을 것"이라면서 "HDC그룹은 항공산업 진출로 모빌리티 기업으로 도약할 것"이라고 포부를 밝혔다.
HDC Group Chairman Chung Mong-gyu said on the 12th, "After acquiring Asiana Airlines, we will provide lavish support to make them armed with the best competitiveness" and added, "HDC Group will grow into a mobility group, with this advancement into the aviation industry as a stepping stone."
또 항공산업은 항공기 도입을 위해 대규모 투자가 필수적인 상황에서 다른 산업에 비해 부채비율이 높은 특성이 있다고 주장했다.
The aviation industry also argued that the debt ratio is higher than other industries at a time when large-scale investment is essential for the introduction of aircraft.
