brother of Kuwait's emir and an Iraqi sports delegation as a
gesture of goodwill between the two countries now stands
unwatered and withered.
Sheikh Fahd al-Ahmad al-Sabah, who planted the tree in a park
of Kuwait City, was killed just months after the ceremony, on
August 2, 1990, the first day of the seven-month Iraqi
occupation of Kuwait.

human rights issue, which lives on wherever you look in
Kuwait," said a spokesperson for the "committee of
martyrs," which provides social care for the families of the
missing.
