영화의 자막 읽는 것이 싫다.
I don't like to read the subtitles in a movie.

I recall watching Das Boot as originally distributed in the U.S.―in German, with English subtitles.
It was a fabulous movie, and I thought the actors' native German language contributed substantially to the feeling of compelling unreality that gave the movie such a powerful effect.
I enthusiastically took friends to see it again some months later―after it had gotten popular and was dubbed into English
―and found that the dubbing had stripped much of the movie's dramatic power.
Exiting the theater, I didn't have the same remarkable feeling I'd had with the original,
when I'd felt like I was a German sailor escaping a steel-walled watery tomb.
애초에 독일어로 녹음되고 영어 자막을 가진 상태로 미국에 배포된 “Das Boot”라는 영화를 본 생각이 난다.
그것은 멋진 영화였으며, 배우들의 모국어인 독일어가 그 영화에 매우 큰 효과를 주는 비현실성을 그럴듯하게 느낄 수 있도록 실질적으로 기여한다고 생각했다.
몇 달 후, 그러니까 그 영화가 인기를 얻게 되어 영어로 더빙된 후에, 다시 보려고 신나게 친구들을 데리고 갔지만,
그 영어 더빙이 영화의 극적 효과를 대부분 없애 버렸다는 것을 알게 되었다.
원래의 자막판에서는 내가 강철 벽으로 된 물 속의 무덤을 빠져나오는 독일 수병 같다는 느낌이 들었지만,
이번에 영화관을 나올 때는 그와 똑같은 생생한 느낌을 갖지 못했다.

MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14)
MPEG-4 Part 14, formally, ISO/IEC 14496-14:2003, is a multimedia container
format standard specified as a part of MPEG-4. It is most-commonly used to
store digital audio and digital video streams, especially those defined
by MPEG, but also can be used to store other data such as subtitles and
still images. Like most modern container formats, MPEG-4 Part 14 allows
streaming over the Internet. The official filename extension for MPEG-4
Part 14 files is .mp4, thus the container format is often referred to
simply as MP4.
엠펙-4 파트 14(공식적으로는 ISO/IEC 14496-14:2003)는 엠펙-4에서 규정하고
멀티미디어 컨테이너 포맷 표준이다.
디지털 오디오 및 디지털 비디오 스트림(특히 엠펙으로 정의된 스트림)을
저장하는데 가장 많이 쓰이는 표준이지만 자막이나 스틸이미지 같은
다른 데이타를 저장하는데도 쓰일 수 있는 표준이다.
대부분의 현대적인 컨테이너포맷과 마찬가지로 엠펙-4 파트 14는 인터넷상의
스트리밍을 지원한다.
엠펙-4 파트14 파일들의 공식적인 파일 확장자명은 .mp4이고
따라서 이 컨테이너 포맷을 간단하게 MP4라고 말하는 경우가 흔하다.
