I'm tied up right now.는 무슨 일을 도와 달라는 부탁을 받았을 때 「미안하지만 지금은 바빠서 꼼짝할 수 없다」는 의미로 많이 사용된다. I'm busy right now.라고 똑 잘라 말하는 것보다 훨씬 더 부드러운 표현이다. 「두 손이 일에 묶여 다른 일을 할 수 없다」는 뜻으로 My hands are all tied up (right now).이라고도 한다.
